Directions
The tour starts at Peine train station and first leads through the city center to St. Jakobi Church and the historic market square. At the Eixer See lake with its wide range of leisure activities, the route continues towards the Mittelland Canal, which accompanies you for the next few kilometers. From Hohenhameln with the Pfannteich pond, the route leads through the flat Hildesheim Börde, where sugar beet is mainly grown. After crossing the Bruchgraben, the church tower of Borsum greets you. There are interesting windmills in Machtsum and Asel. Behind the Borsumer Holz, one of the largest forest areas in the Börde, you can see the highest church tower in Lower Saxony, the St. Andreas church tower in Hildesheim. After passing the Müggelsee lake, you soon reach Hildesheim city center with its many sights.
Tip
A detour is recommended to St. Mark's Church in Equord, which is also known as "Little St. Peter's Basilica".
