    This trail through beautiful high forest is particularly suitable for families with children. The Hasenspring forest restaurant is a good place to stop for refreshments (note opening times).

    The Salzgitter branch of the Harzklub has signposted numerous hiking trails in the extensive Salzgitter area, but only in the west around the Salzgitter mountain range. Hiking trail no. 1 is a good start to the hiking season, with only a slight difference in altitude and a length of just over 3 km. The large free parking lot at the Thermalsolbad is always open. At the hiking sign, a path leads into the forest to the starting point of many hiking trails at the barrier at the so-called Apothekerwinkel. In the shady forest, you can immediately feel the peace and quiet and enjoy a relaxing hike. A stop at the Hasenspring forest restaurant is a good idea. Smaller detours to the golf course with the sculpture trail or around the Kur-/Greifpark with more sculptures or a fairy tale trail are possible and extend this short loop into a longer excursion. If you like, you can swim a few more laps in the thermal saltwater pool or stop off at the "SoleMARE" bistro.

    The starting point is the parking lot behind the Salzgitter-Bad thermal spa. At the entrance to the forest there is a large overview map of the hiking trails in the south of Salzgitter. A wide forest path marks the start of numerous hikes here. After a few steps, you reach the Apothekerwinkel with benches on the main path. There are several small wetland biotopes, typical species-rich flora and rare plants. You can see the buildings of Salzgitter-Bad between the trees and bushes to the north. The circular trail now continues a few meters further into the forest and soon branches off to the left. In a large curve, the trail follows a wide road through the Südholz past the Hasenspring forest restaurant to Birkenweg. Turn left onto this road. At the end, turn left up Bismarckstraße back to the thermal salt water pool on the left on the road "Parkallee".

    Stamp station 16 of the ILE leisure stamp pass of the Northern Harz Foreland Tourism Association is located at the Hasenspring forest restaurant.

    Take the B6 or B248 to Salzgitter-Bad. Follow the signs to Thermalsolbad
