Nine bronze books tell the story of the city. This one reports on the history and urban development measures on Echternplatz.
The Peiner Bronze Books are a bronze sculpture in the form of an open book on a stone plinth. The book on Echternplatz tells of the history and urban development measures in this area. It was designed by the artist Maximilian Stark and erected in 1989.
Among other things, it reads:
"As a street behind Breite Strasse, Echternstrasse ran here as 'Hinter Strasse' as early as the Middle Ages. Between 1975 and 1979, the new Echternplatz and Kirchplatz were created in their current form. Kirchplatz - Echternplatz - Historischer Marktplatz form a special urban sequence of squares. The new south-western edge development incorporates old architectural design elements - gables, roofs and colonnades. In the Lower Saxony state competition for urban design and monument protection in urban development, the town of Peine received an award for the square design in 1978."
Peine has a total of nine bronze books.
