Nine bronze books tell the story of the town. This one tells of the traditional festival, the "Peiner Freischießen".
The Peine bronze books are a bronze sculpture in the form of an open book on a stone plinth. Eight of them tell of the history and urban development measures in Peine. The ninth book on the Schützenplatzt is dedicated to a special tradition: the Peine free shooting. It was designed by artist Andreas Krämmer and unveiled on June 29, 2012.
The book not only reports on the history of Peine's free shooting. For the first time, a bronze book also honors the achievements and commitment of one person: Hermann Rademann. The Peiner veteran, who died in 2009, is depicted in his typical look: with his top hat askew. Rademann was captain of the Corps of Citizens' Sons from 1949 to 1955, a member of the Schützengilde zu Peine von 1597 since 1967 and an "accurate" citizen shooter from 1969 to 1992, who eloquently shaped Peine's free shooting."
