Discover the enchanting Elbe valley floodplain in a very special way - from the water. On board motorised rafts, you can get very close to unspoilt nature and fully enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the river, which is the only river in Germany that still follows its original course. The trip takes you through the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve, which stretches from Hitzacker to Bleckede, including the district of Neuhaus on the east side of the Elbe. Here you can discover the historic marshland villages such as Konau and Popelau, which lie close to the former inner-German border. During your journey, you may be lucky enough to encounter a beaver, which has returned to this area, or see a white-tailed eagle circling in the sky. At the same time, you may hear the gentle chattering of storks from the nearby farmsteads. This unique experience offers you a deep insight into the natural and cultural landscape of the Elbe valley floodplain.
