Welcome to the joint municipality of Selsingen!
The joint municipality of Selsingen, with a population of around 9,500, is one of thirteen municipalities in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) and was founded in 1974. It is located in the north of the district and is crossed by the Oste river.

Extensive meadows, forests, moors, scattered heathland, the river valleys of the Oste, Bever, Duxbach and Twiste as well as idyllic villages and modern farms characterize the joint municipality of Selsingen. On the vacation farms around Selsingen you can get a direct insight into today's agriculture in addition to a relaxing vacation.
You can learn a lot about the country and its people, but also about the animal world on our cycle routes. In addition to the Anderlinger Bildstein and the Steinplanetratium, over 30 other exciting stations await you on the three SteinErlebnisRoutes.
Water hiking on the Oste gives you the opportunity to see nature from the water and take a break at the watermill in Eitzte.
Those who prefer to explore the area on foot should not miss out on a circular hike on the NORDPFADEN Ostetal and Zwei Mühlen.
In Selsingen, the church still stands in the middle of the village! This Selsingen landmark, the fieldstone church of St. Lamberti, can also be visited on a guided tour. The Sandbostel camp memorial is also of historical significance. From 1939-1945, this site was home to the prisoner of war camp Stalag X B. Part of the site with six preserved former accommodation barracks and the camp kitchen can be visited today.

The eight municipalities of the joint municipality of Selsingen include the following municipalities and their localities:
- Anderlingen with Fehrenbruch, Grafel and Ohrel
- Deinstedt with Malstedt
- Farven with Byhusen
- Ostereistedt with Rockstedt
- Rhade with Rhadereistedt
- Sandbostel with Ober Ochtenhausen
- Seedorf with Godenstedt
- Selsingen with Granstedt, Haaßel, Lavenstedt and Parnewinkel
The administrative reform that came into force at the same time transferred a wealth of tasks to the joint municipality that had previously been the responsibility of the municipalities. The focus of local political work shifted to the joint municipality.
Tasks and services of the joint municipality of Selsingen
Tasks in the town hall include registration law, registry office, fire protection, land use plan, wastewater disposal, education, elections and accommodation for asylum seekers.
