Imposing windmill with gallery

The "Elisabeth" gallery windmill was built in 1868. At that time, it still stood at the northern entrance to Selsingen. However, as the wind conditions here were unfavorable, the mill was dismantled in 1873 and rebuilt at its current location south of Selsingen.

Over time, several setbacks jeopardized the mill's survival. In 1907, the wings of the mill were severely damaged. In 1954, the mill became unprofitable and was replaced by a sawmill, before the mill burned down in a fire in 1971.

The history of the mill would have come to an abrupt end had it not been for the Selsingen Mill Protection Association, which campaigned for the restoration and rebuilding of the mill. Since 1983, the "Elisabeth" mill has been restored to its former glory at the entrance and exit of Selsingen.

Book a guided tour and let yourself be guided through the history of the mill. Or enjoy home-baked cakes in the mill café.
