Hoopte: A place of discovery full of history and nature

Hoopte is the landing place for the ferry that takes Hamburg to Zollenspieker. The name Zollenspieker is derived from "customs warehouse". There has been a ford across the Elbe here since at least 1260. In 1813, Napoleon's army crossed the Elbe here on its way back from Russia.

Hoopte is one of 25 places of discovery in the region that tell their own stories. The bright red bench is a hallmark of these places of discovery. There are USB charging sockets and an inductive charging pad on both sides of the bench. This allows you to power your tablet, sat nav, smartphone or e-book reader in a climate-friendly way.

A QR code on the right-hand front of the bench leads to lots of exciting information about the respective location. At the same time, you can share your experiences, stories and photos, as the bench also has an integrated Wi-Fi router.
