Nine bronze books tell the story of the town. This one reports on the history and urban development measures in the street "Winkel".
The Pein bronze books are a bronze sculpture in the form of an open book on a stone plinth. The Buch im Winkel/ Anna Margret Janovicz-Platz in front of the Peiner Forum tells of the history and urban development measures in the course of the street "Im Winkel". It was designed by the artist Maximilian Stark and erected in 1989.
The reader learns here, among other things: "After the great fire in 1557, the street 'Im Winkel' was also created in the course of the town's expansion. Until 1977, the historic street was mainly lined with old half-timbered buildings. The redevelopment began with the construction of apartments for the elderly by the Gerhard-Lucas-Meyer Foundation in 1980. From 1981 to 1988, the city of Peine built the Forum with a hall area, an underground car park, social facilities and meeting places as well as apartments for the elderly, the 'Töpfersmühle' youth center and the city library in the 'Schmedenstedthaus'."
