Museum Burg Bederkesa

Castle Museum Archaeological site

Bederkesa Castle houses the archaeological museum of the district of Cuxhaven.

The Elbe-Weser triangle has always been a favoured settlement area in human history. Numerous significant find sites in the marshes, on the Geest and in moors bear witness to this.
In the museum you will find, among other things, the excellently preserved finds from the Fallward cemetery (4th-5th century AD). The furniture finds, some of which are unique in Europe, were newly presented in 2020. The museum's collection includes significant finds from the Stone Age to modern times.
Together with finds from the Wurt Feddersen Wierde, life in the marsh can be experienced, a landscape that has been more strongly affected by sea-level rise than other areas.
