Interactive experience exhibition

Your day at the museum starts at the counter. There you will receive your ticket and a chip. You can explore the museum in different ways. The easiest way is with the app, which you can download at the entrance. A short film explains how the technology works. On the first floor, the history of Papenburg is vividly presented. If the explanations at the individual stations are not enough for you, you can use QR codes to obtain further interesting information about our city. On the 1st floor, you can find out all about wooden shipbuilding in Papenburg. Embark on a learning journey, configure your own ship and successfully launch it at the end of the tour. The second floor continues with steel shipbuilding, again interactively on a Learning Journey.
The Maritime World of Experience is suitable for young and old, for technology enthusiasts as well as for people who simply want to experience a museum by reading and looking. But we also offer people with disabilities (hearing, sight, mobility and cognitive impairments) the opportunity to explore our museum. We have been certified for this by "Reisen für alle", which we are particularly pleased about, because this accessibility means we can really welcome all guests.
But once you have explored our museum in detail, it's not over yet. Everything you have discovered in "theory" with us can be explored in real life on various discovery routes in the city of Papenburg. Take a look at the ship replicas in the Papenburg canals or follow the path of the peat from extraction in the Von-Velen plant to loading in the port. As you can see, Papenburg is well worth a visit.
